Tournament Activity Details & Rules

Hybrid Scramble Format & Rules

A scramble allows teammates to play the course in a best ball format. The Irvine Classic allows three and four-player scrambles.

The team members all tee off from the individually appropriate tee-box position with the team selecting the best ball for their second shot.

After the second shot (or placement on the green), whichever occurs first, each golfer plays only their own ball through the end of the hole.

Team scoring: The sum of each players score is added on each hole, then divided by the number of players in the group at the end of tournament play.

Individual scoring: This year, we are recording individual scores (1) in order to determine an overall Men’s and Women’s winner and (2) so that golfers can invite friends and colleagues to make fundraising pledges corresponding to golfers’ scores (ex: $10 for each stroke under par).

USGA rules apply for hazards, bunkers, and other similar regulations on the course.
